Introit · Salus populi
I
am the salvation of my people, saith the Lord: in whatsoever tribulation they
shall call upon me, I will hear them: and I will be their Lord for ever. Psalm
78. Hear my law, O my people: incline your ears unto the words of my mouth. V.
Glory be.
Collects
O
God, forasmuch as without thee we are not able to please thee: mercifully grant
that thy Holy Spirit may in all things direct and rule our hearts; through
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Oct 10 · Holy Martyrs
Eulampius and Eulampia
Almighty
and Everlasting God, who didst enkindle the flame of holy love in the hearts of
Thy blessed martyrs Eulampius and Eulampia: Grant unto us, Thy servants, the
same faith and fortitude, that we, loving Thee above all things, may endure all
trials with patience and joy, through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who
liveth and reigneth with Thee and the Holy Spirit, ever one God, world without
end. Amen.
Oct 10 · St. Paulinus of
York
O
Almighty God, who didst send thy servant Saint Paulinus to preach the Gospel to
the people of Northumbria, and by his labors and sufferings didst lay a
foundation for thy Church in England: Grant, we beseech thee, that as he with
steadfast courage spread abroad the light of thy truth, we, being grounded in
the same faith, may show forth thy praise in our lives; through Jesus Christ
our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
ever one God, world without end. Amen.
Oct 11 · Holy Apostle
Philip of the Seventy
O
God, who hast taught us by the ministry of thy blessed Apostle Philip to serve
both body and soul in thy Holy Church, grant us the grace to follow his
example, that we may proclaim thy Gospel in word and deed, and serve one
another in humility and love; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and
reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

2 Kings 5:1–15a
Now
Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his
master, and honourable, because by him the Lord had given deliverance unto
Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper. And the Syrians
had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of
Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman's wife. And she said unto her
mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he
would recover him of his leprosy. And one went in, and told his lord, saying,
Thus and thus said the maid that is of the land of Israel. And the king of
Syria said, Go to, go, and I will send a letter unto the king of Israel. And he
departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, and six thousand pieces of
gold, and ten changes of raiment. And he brought the letter to the king of
Israel, saying, Now when this letter is come unto thee, behold, I have
therewith sent Naaman my servant to thee, that thou mayest recover him of his
leprosy. And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that
he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this
man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? wherefore consider, I
pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me. And it was so, when
Elisha the man of God had heard that the king of Israel had rent his clothes,
that he sent to the king, saying, Wherefore hast thou rent thy clothes? let him
come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel. So Naaman
came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the house
of Elisha. And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan
seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean. But
Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely
come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the Lord his God, and strike
his hand over the place, and recover the leper. Are not Abana and Pharpar,
rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in
them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage. And his servants came
near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do
some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he
saith to thee, Wash, and be clean? Then went he down, and dipped himself seven
times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came
again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. And he returned
to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him: and
he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in
Israel.

Revelation 9:20–10:11
And
the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of
the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of
gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor
hear, nor walk: Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries,
nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts. And I saw another mighty angel
come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head,
and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire: And he
had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and
his left foot on the earth, And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion
roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices. And when
the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard
a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven
thunders uttered, and write them not. And the angel which I saw stand upon the
sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, And sware by him that
liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are,
and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things
which are therein, that there should be time no longer: But in the days of the
voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God
should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets. And the
voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the
little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea
and upon the earth. And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the
little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy
belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey. And I took the
little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth
sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter. And he said
unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and
tongues, and kings.
Epistle · Ephesians
4:17–32
This I
say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other
Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having the understanding darkened,
being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them,
because of the blindness of their heart: Who being past feeling have given
themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But
ye have not so learned Christ; If so be that ye have heard him, and have been
taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former
conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And
be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which
after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Wherefore putting away
lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of
another. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither
give place to the devil. Let him that
stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the
thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Let no
corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the
use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not
the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let
all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put
away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted,
forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
The Holy Gospel · Matthew
9:1–8
Chapter 9
And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city. And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth. And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house. And he arose, and departed to his house. But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.
