Song from Buddha's Heart
Jesus Christ Blesses Gautama Siddhartha in the Afterlife |
Can water dry up the mire?
Can fire burn out a rampant fire?
Can I free myself
From health and wealth?
Can one desire to be without desire?
Life is full of suffering and sin
And it all arises from within
The highest evil
Is not the devil
It is the cycle of our self we're in
But nature will not leave one blank
It rots the holy and the rank
To die to self
Puts guilt up on the shelf
But it leaves only self to thank
So Buddha sat beneath his tree
And realized the problem there was always “me”
He tried to die
But couldn’t lie
To die to self through the power of self is self-contradictory
He would need some outer grace
But it had not come yet to the human race
Five hundred years
Of wars, plague and fears
So he could only close his eyes, wait and observe his inner space
The Buddha’s Savior would be born
To complete the process he had sworn
To make a path
Extinguish wrath
And end the cycle of sin and death that Buddha mourned
