WESTERN CALENDAR PENTECOST (MAY 19TH)
By Bp. Joseph (Ancient Church of the West)
We celebrate Western calendar Pentecost Sunday this next Sunday, called “Whitsunday” or “White Sunday,” since everyone would traditionally wear white in memory of having received the mysteries of Baptism and Confirmation/Chrismation, the work of the Holy Spirit in the Common Life of the Church!
This Sunday, let us celebrate the Descent of the Holy Spirit, the Fruits of the Spirit, and the continued revelation of Jesus Christ to each one of our hearts through the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives!
The Spirit has Descended! Blessed be the Pentecost of our Lord! Alleluia!
COLLECT
O Almighty God, Who as at this time didst teach the hearts of Thy faithful people, by sending to them the light of Thy Holy Spirit: Grant us by the same Spirit to have a right judgment in all things, and evermore to rejoice in His holy comfort; through the merits of Christ Jesus our Saviour, who liveth and reigneth with Thee, in the unity of the same Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.
